Sop Cop district is home to four ethnic minorities, namely Mong, Kho Mu, Thai and Lao. Each ethnic group has its own cultural identity and traditional crafts, with varying levels of skill and scale. These crafts reflect the production techniques, aesthetic thinking, and creativity in the handcrafted products that serve daily life.

The provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee on August 26 received cash and gifts from the Charity Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Central Committee in support of people in disaster-hit areas in Son La province.

The Phu Yen district People's Committee on August 16 held a ceremony to receive a certificate recognising the ritual part of the “Xip xi” Festival, the Tet of the White Thai people in Quynh Nhai and Phu Yen districts, as national intangible cultural heritage. The Son La provincial Department of Public Security’s Youth Committee on August 13-14 coordinated with Phu Yen district’s Youth Union to start construction on eight school and housing projects in three communes in the district.

The event was attended by Vi Duc Tho, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and President of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee.

Total budget revenue in Son La city reached over 316 billion VND (12.6 million USD) in the first seven month of this year, equal to 59% of the estimate assigned by the provincial People's Council and 56.1% of that assigned by the city People's Council.
