Over 17,800 candidates take high school entrance exam

Over 17,800 candidates in Son La province are taking the high school entrance exam for the 2025-2026 academic year, with Literature in the morning, and Mathematics in the afternoon of June 1. Both lasted 120 minutes.

At exactly 7:00 a.m., 100% of candidates were present at the exam sites with confidence and determination to complete the first subject of Literature. At the sites, from early morning, the police forces, security and order protection teams at the grassroots level, youth union members, and medical staff coordinated to ensure security, order, and traffic safety, and support candidates and their families at the exam sites. Free water was also delivered to encourage students to complete the exam well.

In the high school entrance exam for the 2025-2026 academic year, the whole province has over 17,800 candidates, registered to take the exam at 43 sites, with a total of 764 rooms. The total enrollment target for grade 10 is 16,400 students. The provincial Department of Education and Training has established an Examination Council, and mobilised over 2,500 officials, teachers, staff, officers, soldiers and related forces to participate in the tasks at the examination sites, ensuring the correct and sufficient structure and quantity according to regulations.

On the morning of June 2, they will take the English exam, lasting 60 minutes. For Son La High School for the Gifted, in addition to the above three subjects, candidates will also take an additional specialised subject, lasting 150 minutes, on the afternoon of June 2.

The exam is prepared by the provincial Department of Education and Training's Examination Council, ensuring that the core knowledge is based on the 9th grade cirruculum.
