SBV Governor Nguyen Thi Hong speaks at the programme.

In her remarks, Hong stressed that in recent times the banking sector has made continuous efforts to fulfil its tasks, contributing to maintaining macroeconomic stability and supporting the country’s socio-economic development. The sector has mobilised capital and channelled funds to businesses, households, and people across all regions to support production and business activities.

With a spirit of solidarity and mutual support, the sector has consistently taken the lead and acted responsibly in social welfare activities for the poor and policy beneficiary families, especially in remote, border and disadvantaged areas. In 2025 alone, it allocated more than 2 trillion VND (77 million USD) for social welfare programmes, notably support for communities and localities affected by storms and floods, and the programme to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated houses launched by the Prime Minister.

The Governor commended Son La province for its achievements in socio-economic development and efforts to care for people during the Lunar New Year, particularly families of people with meritorious service and poor households. She called on the locality to build on these results, continue effectively implementing social welfare work, create a joyful atmosphere for people to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2026, and generate momentum for the local Party organisation and authorities to successfully fulfil annual tasks and promote sustainable development.
