Muong Gion commune holds cultural, sports and tourism festival

The People’s Committee of Muong Gion commune is organising a cultural, sports and tourism festival from August 30 to September 1 to celebrate the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution and National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2026).

Attending the opening ceremony were Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dang Ngoc Hau; leaders of Muong Gion commune; and a large number of local residents and visitors from near and far.

The festival features a wide range of vibrant cultural, artistic, and sporting activities, including the “Green Muong Gion” running race; crossbow shooting, con (cloth ball) throwing, tug-of-war, and pickleball competitions; a cultural camp and an ethnic cuisine competition; community cultural performances; and an ethnic costume contest.

The event also offers visitors opportunities to explore, experience, and shop at booths showcasing the locality’s distinctive agricultural products. It provides a space for local residents to interact, preserve, and promote traditional cultural values, while introducing Muong Gion’s people, identity, cultural heritage, and tourism potential to visitors.

Speaking at the festival, Hau called on Muong Gion commune to continue strengthening communication and education on revolutionary traditions, fostering national pride and love for the homeland among people of all strata, particularly the younger generation.

He also urged the commune to closely link economic development with the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values, and to proactively research and develop ecotourism and community-based tourism models to create sustainable livelihoods for local people.
