The event brought together representatives of Sop Bao district in Laos' Houaphanh province, as well as officials from communes and wards in the Moc Chau area, along with large numbers of residents and visitors from both sides of the border.

Long Sap is a border commune comprising 14 hamlets housing six ethnic groups. It shares more than 30 km of border with Laos and is home to the Long Sap International Border Gate.

To mark the National Day, the commune has organised a series of cultural and sporting activities, including a highland border market, ethnic cultural camps, and music, cultural and sports exchanges. The activities aim to create a festive atmosphere, strengthen community ties and promote friendship between people on both sides of the border. 

Visiting the cultural camps and exhibition stalls, Chien praised local authorities for their proactive and thorough preparations for the programme. He extended his best wishes to residents in the border area on the country's major national holiday.

He urged Long Sap to continue strengthening solidarity among ethnic communities, preserve and promote their cultural traditions, and step up efforts to boost production and socio-economic development while safeguarding national sovereignty and border security.

He also called for further efforts to deepen the traditional friendship and solidarity between communities along the Vietnam-Laos border.

Earlier, the delegation paid tribute at the historical site where President Ho Chi Minh talked with officials and workers of Moc Chau Farm, expressing gratitude for his contributions to Vietnam's national liberation and the well-being of its people.
