Van Ho reviews elimination of dilapidated housing

Van Ho district held a conference on May 27 to review the elimination of makeshift and dilapidated houses across the district.

The event was attended by Trang Thi Xuan, member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People's Committee.

In 2025, Van Ho district committed to eliminating 401 substandard houses, including the construction of 352 new homes and the repair of 49. Among these are 326 homes for poor households, 71 for near-poor families, and four for those who rendered service to the nation.

The total funding required for the programme is 22.62 billion VND (approximately 872,770 USD). So far, 340 homes have been completed, with the remaining 61 expected to be finished and support funds disbursed by May 31.

In addition to state funding, the district mobilised over 12,500 volunteer workdays, equivalent to around 2.7 billion, as well as cash and material donations valued at over 50 million.

Speaking at the conference, Xuan praised the strong leadership and coordination of Party committees and local authorities in implementing the programme to eliminate makeshift and substandard housing.

She called on the district to continue raising awareness among organisations, individuals, businesses, and residents of policies supporting the removal of dilapidated homes for poor households. She also urged greater community involvement to provide support and encouragement, helping households become more self-reliant, boost production, and achieve sustainable poverty reduction and improved living conditions.

Collectives and individuals receive certificates of merit in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the 2025 housing programme.

On this occasion, the district People’s Committee awarded certificates of merit to 17 collectives and 56 individuals for their outstanding contributions to the 2025 housing programme.
