The meeting was attended by leaders of relevant departments and sectors, representatives of businesses operating in Mai Son Industrial Park, and leaders of Chieng Mung commune.
At the meeting, the provincial Industrial Parks Authority reported on its organisational structure and staffing, the implementation of its functions and responsibilities, and proposed measures to strengthen its capacity and development.
The authority currently comprises two divisions and one public-service unit, including the Office; the Division of Investment, Construction and Environment Management; and the Industrial Park Services, Consulting and Technical Infrastructure Centre.
Based on its assigned functions and responsibilities, the agency has proactively strengthened coordination with departments, agencies and local authorities in site clearance, infrastructure investment and construction, and investment attraction. It has also actively sought investors for projects and businesses involved in investment in and development of industrial park infrastructure.
To date, 90% of the cleared industrial land has been occupied. Production and business activities of enterprises in Mai Son Industrial Park have remained stable and continued to grow, with several projects proposing adjustments and expansion of their scale and production capacity.
In its first phase, Mai Son Industrial Park has contributed about 49.68 billion VND (1.92 million USD) to the State budget and provided regular employment for more than 265 workers, with an average monthly income of over 7.5 million VND per person.
Regarding orientations for industrial park development in the province, under the Son La provincial Master Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister under Decision No. 1676/QD-TTg dated December 25, 2023, and adjusted by the Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee under Decision No. 568/QD-UBND dated February 27, 2026, Son La will have seven industrial parks.
During the 2026–2030 period, the province will continue to complete the infrastructure of 150-hectare Mai Son Industrial Park, and develop Tan Yen and Yen Chau IPs. In 2031–2050, it will develop Chieng Khuong and Chieng Hac IPs and add two new ones, Ta Hoc and Phu Yen.
Concluding the meeting, the Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee stressed that attracting investment to industrial parks is an important driver of job creation, higher incomes for local residents, increased State budget revenue and socio-economic development.
To achieve this goal, he asked the provincial Industrial Parks Authority to continue proactively supporting investors throughout the entire process, from initial engagement and site selection to administrative procedures, site clearance and production operations.
He also requested the unit to proactively review relevant legal regulations and propose that the province decentralise full authority to approve and attract businesses to invest; urgently consolidate its organisational structure and human resources. He asked relevant departments and sectors to promptly establish clear and transparent coordination procedures, specifying processing timelines and assigning individual responsibility for each area under their respective charge./.
