Vice President presents 80-year Party membership badges to Party members in Son La

Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan attended a ceremony at the Son La provincial Convention Centre on September 5 to present the 80-year Party membership badges to veteran Party members of the provincial Party Organisation on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945-2026).

Attending the event were Hoang Van Nghiem, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; members of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee; members of the Party Committees' Standing Boards of To Hieu and Chieng Coi wards; Party members receiving the badges; and their relatives.

Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Lo Minh Hung announced the Party Central Committee Secretariat’s decision to confer the 80-year Party membership badges on Sa Dinh Binh and Nguyen Van Tan.

Born in 1922 in Phu Tho province, Binh began taking part in revolutionary activities in 1945 and joined the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1948. He held various positions in Phu Tho and later worked at the Northwestern Region Party Committee before serving as Standing Deputy Secretary of the Muong La district Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the district People’s Committee from 1953. He served as Standing Member of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee from 1977, and retired in 1979.

Meanwhile, born in 1930 in Phu Tho, Tan joined the Party in 1948 and worked in Son La from then, holding various positions before serving as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Son La town and Chairman of the town Administrative Committee from 1967-1968. He worked at the Mien Tay board in Son La province from 1969-1975, and then retired in April 1990.

Addressing the event, Vice President Xuan emphasised that the badges recognise the two veterans’ long journey of striving, self-improvement and dedication to the Party, the Fatherland and the people. She said she was deeply moved when looking back on their revolutionary careers, as well as their significant contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, as well as to the development of Son La province.

To achieve the goal of rapid, green and sustainable development and become a hub of the northwestern region, the Vice President urged Son La to strengthen Party building at the grassroots level; focus on building Party organisations; improve the quality of Party committee and Party cell meetings; and promote the political leadership role of Party organisations and the vanguard and exemplary role of Party members. She particularly stressed the importance of personnel work, calling for the development of cadres at all levels, especially leaders, heads of agencies and grassroots officials, with sufficient political qualities, capacity and reputation to meet the requirements of their tasks./.
