Rector of provincial School of Politics appointed

Son La province has appointed Nguyen Chi Chung, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Education and Training, as Rector of the provincial School of Politics.

The appointment decision issued by the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board was announced at a conference held by the school on September 14. Under the decision, Chung will assume the new role on September 15 for a five-year term.

Chung, born in 1982, holds a PhD in economic management and an advanced degree in political theory. He has 21 years of experience in leadership and management positions, including Head of the Education and Training Division and Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Song Mai district. He has served as Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Education and Training since September 2024.

Addressing the event, Lo Minh Hung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Council, called on Chung to draw on the experience of previous school leaders and work with staff to fulfill the school's responsibilities.

Key priorities include maintaining the school’s Level 1 standards, improving the quality of its personnel and training programmes, strengthening scientific research and policy advisory work, accelerating digital transformation and investing in infrastructure, he said.

The school must strive to achieve Level 2 standards by 2030 and become a reputable centre for training and scientific research within Vietnam's network of political schools, he added.
