Also attending the event were Deputy Secretary of the Son La provincial Party Committee and President of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Cha A Cua, and leaders of the Son La provincial People’s Committee and representatives of various departments and sectors from both provinces.

During the 2022-2026 period, the traditional friendship between the two provinces continued to be maintained, strengthened and developed. They proactively and flexibly implemented the contents of their signed cooperation agreement, achieving tangible results, particularly in human resources training, healthcare, security and public order, and people-to-people exchanges.

These efforts have contributed to maintaining political security and social order and safety in each province, while further consolidating the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

Nghiem expressed his pleasure at welcoming the Xieng Khouang delegation on its working trip to Son La to sign a cooperation agreement for the 2026-2029 period. He stressed that the occasion provided an important opportunity for the two sides to review the results of their collaboration, frankly discuss issues of mutual concern, and reach consensus on cooperation areas suited to the practical conditions and strengths of each province.

For his part, Phouvong thanked Son La’s leaders for their warm and cordial reception, and spoke highly of the province’s attention and support across various fields, particularly investment in infrastructure development and human resources training for Xieng Khouang in recent years.

He expressed his hope that Son La will continue to strengthen cooperation with Xieng Khouang in various areas, especially in personnel training, the development of effective agricultural production models and tourism.

At the talks, the two provinces discussed and signed a cooperation agreement for the 2026-2029 period./.
