The delegation was received by Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; Dang Ngoc Hau, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; and leaders of relevant departments and agencies.
On behalf of the provincial leadership, Chairman Viet welcomed Ambassador Ito Naoki and his spouse to Son La and provided an overview of the province's socio-economic development as well as its cooperation with Japanese partners.
He also highlighted several sectors with strong potential for cooperation, particularly agriculture, which is being developed through the application of high technology, safe production methods, and sustainable organic practices aimed at expanding exports to international markets, including Japan.
He proposed that the ambassador continue supporting Son La in connecting with Japanese businesses interested in investing in high-tech agriculture, agricultural processing, tourism, and renewable energy. He also called for enhanced cooperation in human resource development, education, employment, and trade promotion, as well as support for the implementation of Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects, particularly those focusing on disaster-resilient rural development and urban wastewater treatment in the province.
Ambassador Ito Naoki highly appreciated Son La's strengths and potential, especially in agriculture, tourism, and human resource development. He affirmed his commitment to serving as a bridge to promote cooperation between Son La and Japanese localities, businesses, and organisations in the coming years.
During the visit, Ambassador Ito Naoki and his spouse are scheduled to conduct field visits to Takii Vietnam Seed Company Ltd., Satoen Vietnam Tea Factory, and a JICA project in Ang hamlet. The delegation will also visit several tourist attractions and experience the culture and distinctive agricultural products of the Moc Chau plateau.
