Son La prepares for provincial Party chief’s working visit to Lao provinces

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dang Ngoc Hau on June 1 chaired a meeting with the Department of Foreign Affairs and relevant departments and agencies to review preparations for the Secretary of the provincial Party Committee’s working visit to Laos’ Luang Prabang, Oudomxay, and Bokeo provinces.

At the meeting, a representative of the Department of Foreign Affairs reported on the preparations for the working programme with the three provinces. The delegation is expected to conduct the visit from June 24 to June 28, 2026. The department has coordinated with the Lao provinces on the working agenda, finalised the report evaluating cooperation results for the 2022–2025 period, and completed a draft cooperation agreement for the 2026–2029 period to submit for approval during the visit.

During the meeting, participants discussed and contributed ideas on preparing an illustrated report on cooperation achievements, agreed on the composition and number of delegates, and reviewed protocol, logistics, and other arrangements to ensure the success of the visit.

In his concluding remarks, the Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee requested the Department of Foreign Affairs to continue coordinating closely with relevant departments and agencies to promptly finalise all required documents and contents in accordance with regulations. 

He also urged proactive follow-up with the Lao provinces to obtain official responses as soon as possible, and called for a thorough review of the meeting agenda, discussion topics, and draft cooperation agreements to ensure their practicality and effectiveness. In addition, he emphasised the need to carefully prepare protocol and logistical arrangements to ensure that the working trip is conducted safely and successfully.
