Son La’s high-level delegation visits Laos’ Bokeo province

Continuing their working visit to Laos, a high-level delegation of Son La province led by Hoang Van Nghiem, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, and head of the provincial delegation of National Assembly deputies, on June 27 held talks with leaders of Bokeo province and signed a cooperation agreement for the 2026–2029 period.

Welcoming the Son La delegation was Brigadier General Paenkham Boutchanpheng, member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Chairman of the People's Council of Bokeo province.

During the talks, the two sides exchanged information on socio-economic development, national defence and security, and Party-building efforts in each locality, and reviewed the results of their cooperation in recent years. Both sides affirmed that the traditional friendship and special solidarity between Son La and Bokeo have been continuously strengthened and developed on the foundation of the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

Cooperation has been promoted in various fields, including education and training, healthcare, culture, trade, human resource development, and mutual support in socio-economic development, contributing to strengthening solidarity and close ties between the authorities and people of the two provinces.

Over the past years, the two provinces have effectively maintained high-level delegation exchanges and cooperation activities.

At the talks, the leaders of both provinces signed a cooperation agreement for the 2026–2029 period, covering key areas such as politics-diplomacy, defense and security, economy, culture and society, education and training, and human resource development. The agreement provides an important foundation for further strengthening comprehensive cooperation between Son La and Bokeo in the coming period.

On this occasion, Son La provided development assistance for Bokeo for 2026 in accordance with the signed agreement. The leaders of the two provinces also exchanged meaningful gifts, reflecting the close and faithful friendship between the two localities.

Immediately after the talks, the Son La high-level delegation visited the Bokeo Children’s Cultural Centre. The facility covers nearly 500 square metres and was built with 5 billion VND (190,115 USD) funded by Son La, along with counterpart funding from Bokeo.
