State management of tourism has been strengthened, with the completion and operation of the smart tourism application “Son La Tour” following a digital ecosystem model.

The province has effectively implemented tourism development cooperation programmes between the expanded northwestern provinces and Ho Chi Minh City; conducted surveys and assessments, and developed more trekking and hiking tourism products.

It has also reviewed and finalised the criteria for recognising provincial-level tourist areas in the Son La hydropower reservoir region; and carried out plans and projects to develop Son La tourism in a green and sustainable direction, closely associated with the cultural identity of ethnic groups.
