Workshop promotes green, sustainable tourism in Moc Chau

The People’s Committee of Son La province on January 17 organised a workshop titled “Green and Sustainable Tourism – A Driving Force for the Development of the Moc Chau National Tourist Area.”

Attending the event were Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; Ha Trung Chien, member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Centre, the provincial Tourism Association, the People’s Committee of Moc Chau ward; and representatives of travel companies, enterprises, and tourism cooperatives from within and outside the province.

In his opening remarks, Chien emphasised that with its magnificent landscapes, fresh climate, and distinctive cultural identity, the Moc Chau National Tourist Area has been honoured for the third time as the “World’s Leading Regional Nature Destination 2025,” affirming the position of Moc Chau and Son La tourism on the domestic and international tourism map.

The Resolution of the 16th provincial Party Congress identifies tourism as a key economic sector, with Moc Chau to be developed in a green and sustainable direction. Son La province hopes that experts and businesses will contribute opinions and propose solutions to improve the quality of tourism products and services, and to build the Moc Chau tourism brand in a sustainable manner.
 

Representatives from travel companies, businesses, and tourism cooperatives from within and outside the province attend the workshop.

At the workshop, leaders of the Moc Chau ward People’s Committee, representatives of enterprises, tourist sites, and households engaged in community-based tourism discussed and contributed many consultative opinions. These provide a basis for Son La province in general, and the People’s Committees of communes and wards within the Moc Chau National Tourist Area in particular, to continue providing direction and to develop plans, strategies, and solutions to guide the development of the Moc Chau National Tourist Area and Son La tourism in line with their potential and advantages.

In his closing remarks, the Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee requested agencies, units, local authorities, associations, and tourism enterprises absorb the opinions and develop specific programmes and solutions to promote the development of Son La tourism and the Moc Chau National Tourist Area in a safe, attractive, and sustainable manner; focus on upgrading distinctive tourism products, expanding markets, strengthening linkages, creating brand highlights, and at the same time supporting and addressing difficulties faced by tourism enterprises.
