Kim Bon grows elephant grass for livestock feed

Currently, Kim Bon commune has over 321 hectares of elephant grass, mainly in hamlets such as Trung Thanh and Suoi On, with popular varieties including VA06 and green elephant grass.

 

Residents of Trung Thanh hamlet, Kim Bon commune, use elephant grass as feed for cattle.

The commune has more than 700 livestock-raising households, with a total of over 91,600 heads of livestock and poultry. Over 90% of households raising livestock have permanent or semi-permanent barns linked to grass cultivation.

The commune has instructed specialised departments to organise training courses and guidance sessions for farmers on techniques such as fermenting elephant grass, biomass corn, and straw silage, to store feed and improve nutrition for cows and buffaloes.
