Mai Son harvests over 3,000 tonnes of custard apples

Mai Son commune has nearly 500 hectares of custard apple orchards, primarily in Me Lech and Nhap hamlets, and Sub-zone 19. Yields reach around 12 tonnes per hectare for traditional varieties, and 20-25 tonnes per hectare for Thai and Taiwanese varieties.

This year’s total output is expected to reach nearly 6,000 tonnes. So far, over 3,000 tonnes have been harvested, with selling prices ranging from 25,000 to 50,000 VND (0.95-1.9 USD) per kilogramme. The main consumer markets are Thanh Hoa and Hung Yen provinces, and Hanoi.

The commune continues to promote and encourage farmers and cooperatives to expand the cultivation area and invest in production according to safe and organic standards. It is also introducing high-yield, high-quality varieties such as Thai custard apple, soursop, and Taiwanese custard apple, while applying technical measures to stagger harvest times for better market access.
