Son La fisheries output tops 832 tonnes

Leveraging the extensive reservoirs of the Son La and Hoa Binh hydropower plants, which cover more than 26,000 hectares of water surface, localities across Son La province have tapped their potential to develop cage fish farming and wild-capture fisheries.

The province currently has more than 2,900 hectares dedicated to aquaculture and over 7,000 fish cages. It has also established 15 safe seafood supply chains involving more than 2,000 fish cages.

In October, total fisheries output was estimated at 832.3 tonnes, including 698.6 tonnes from aquaculture and 133.7 tonnes from capture fisheries. The sector is helping boost local incomes and drive agricultural economic development.
