Son La promotes sale of agricultural products

Son La province boasts over 1 million hectares of agricultural land, including nearly 85,000 hectares of fruit trees, yielding an annual output of approximately 451,779 tonnes of various fruits. Currently, several fruits, such as “hau” plum and mango, are entering their harvest season, with longan soon to follow.

Provincial departments, sectors, and localities have intensified trade promotion and connected consumption channels in various provinces and cities, helping to promote and bring products closer to consumers.

As the unit advising the provincial People's Committee on agricultural product sale promotion, the provincial Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion Centre has proposed numerous solutions to expand the market nationwide.

It has collaborated with provinces and cities with existing cooperation agreements, such as Lao Cai, Thanh Hoa, and Hai Phong, to introduce Son La's agricultural products into supermarket systems, retail stores, and wholesale markets. The centre has also boosted livestreaming on e-commerce platforms and social media, enabling farmers to connect directly with consumers. The goal is to sell between 1,100 - 1,200 tonnes of agricultural products through these efforts.

Additionally, the centre has worked with unions and localities to organise technical training on agricultural product preservation for farmers. It has also encouraged residents to step up processing, such as drying fruits, to diversify products and meet market demand.

Since the beginning of this year, Son La province has organised two ceremonies to bring strawberries and plums to Vietnam Airlines flights. A promotional week was also held in Hanoi, featuring plums, rice, and many distinctive OCOP (One Commune One Product) items from Son La city, Moc Chau township, and 10 districts. So far, Son La's agricultural products are available on the shelves of major supermarket chains like BigC and Saigon Co.op, and WinCommerce retail systems.

To continue boosting promotion and sale of agricultural products, Son La province will focus on collaborating with northern provinces and cities like Hai Phong and Hung Yen to organise exhibition booths, sell agricultural products, and host agricultural product weeks. The immediate plan is for an agricultural product week to be held in Hai Phong city this August. These promotional activities are crucial in introducing and showcasing Son La's agricultural products to consumers nationwide and abroad.
