Son La recognises seven 4-star OCOP products

Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Son La province and Chairman of the provincial OCOP Council Nguyen Thanh Cong on June 13 chaired a meeting to evaluate and rank OCOP products. The event, the first of its kind this year, gathered representatives from provincial departments, sectors, businesses, and cooperatives with products under evaluation.

As part of the “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) programme, Yen Chau and Thuan Chau districts submitted five products for evaluation and recognition in the first phase. They include Kien Cuong Ruby plum by Kien Cuong Cooperative in Phieng Khoai commune, Yen Chau district; On Oc Shan Tuyet tea by Tay Bac (Northwest) Cooperative in Yen Chau district; Diep Bach black garlic by Tay Bac Cooperative; Hoshi black garlic by Bao Gia 26 Co., Ltd.; and Thu Dan tea by Thu Dan Tea Co., Ltd. in Thuan Chau district.

Additionally, two previously recognised 4-star OCOP products were re-evaluated and reaffirmed: Pha Din Tourism Cooperative’s community-based, eco-tourism services and site; and Thu Dan Oolong tea by Thu Dan Tea Co., Ltd.

After reviewing the products, council members concluded that all of them meet the necessary conditions and standards for OCOP evaluation, classification, recognition, and re-recognition. The producers have focused on improving product quality, design, and packaging, while also strengthening linkages among producers, cooperatives, businesses, and consumers. As a result, the 2025 provincial OCOP Council officially recognised all seven products as meeting the 4-star OCOP standard.

At the event, Cong urged OCOP producers to complete their documentation and submit it for approval in accordance with regulations. He also encouraged them to showcase their products at trade promotion events aimed at boosting the visibility and consumption of safe agricultural products from Son La.

Following the evaluation, classification, and re-recognition, producers were advised to expand production, adopt advanced processing and manufacturing techniques, and enhance trade promotion efforts, particularly by embracing digital transformation in product distribution.
