Son La seeks to improve policy lending efficiency

Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Dang Ngoc Hau, who also heads the representative board of the Board of Directors of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies' Son La branch (VPSP Son La), on July 6 chaired a meeting to review second-quarter performance and launch tasks for the third quarter of 2026.

At the meeting of the representative board of the Board of Directors of VBSP Son La.

In the first six months, the representative board completed its organisational restructuring following the administrative reorganisation, establishing 75 commune-level representative boards with 300 members. It also directed VBSP Son La and local representative boards to implement policy lending targets and tasks in a coordinated manner.

As of the end of the second quarter, total policy credit funding reached about 8.2 trillion VND (311.79 million USD), up 8.4% from the end of 2025. Outstanding loans hit 8.13 trillion VND, with 115,153 borrowers still carrying outstanding balances.

During the first half, the bank disbursed loans to 18,807 borrowers, mainly under lending programmes for poor and near-poor households as well as production and business development. It also supported the construction of nearly 10,000 rural clean water and sanitation facilities, helped create jobs for more than 4,000 workers, and disbursed more than 38.5 billion VND in loans for the purchase of equipment and machinery.

Concluding the meeting, Hau called on the representative board, the bank's provincial branch, and relevant departments, sectors and localities to further improve the quality of policy lending; proactively advise on the timely allocation of funding; review and supplement local budget funds entrusted to the bank; and expand the pool of beneficiaries under policy credit programmes in line with actual demand./.
