The climate-smart coffee farming model in Binh Thuan commune (Cluster 13), was implemented during the 2025–2026 crop season with three participating farming households covering a total area of 3.4 hectares.
Under the model, participating farmers received support in NPK fertilisers, microbial organic fertilisers, foliar fertilisers, and biological crop protection products. Technical staff also guided farmers in adopting improved fertiliser application methods, shifting from surface broadcasting to banding, trenching, incorporating fertiliser into the soil, and covering it afterward.
The practices were combined with branch pruning, canopy management, weed cutting and mulching around the tree base, as well as pest and disease management tailored to the conditions of each coffee plot.
Monitoring of the smart farming practices implemented in Cluster 13 showed clear changes in fertiliser application, canopy management and overall orchard care. The model plots demonstrated greater consistency in fertiliser rates and application methods. Field observations also indicated more stable plant growth, greener foliage and improved fruit retention compared with previous practices.
During the workshop, delegates and farmers visited several coffee farms using Binh Dien fertilisers and discussed technical practices for coffee harvesting, end-of-season coffee care and farming solutions designed to help coffee production adapt to climate change.
