The event was attended by Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; leaders of several provincial departments and sectors; and representatives from Tay Bac University and the commune.

The workshop put forward groups of activities, including raising awareness among local residents about forest protection, ecological environment conservation, and biodiversity preservation; technical training on building economic development models; formulating conventions and regulations on forest protection and development linked with effective management and use of forest environmental service payments to both protect forests and improve local livelihoods in line with socio-economic conditions of each locality.
The project also focuses on building livelihood models adapted to climate change and sustainable green tourism, using forest environmental service funds to increase household incomes and improve the ecological environment. It will be carried out in 17 months, from November 2025 to March 2027, with a total budget of over 2.3 billion VND (87,100 USD).
Based on these activity groups, participants discussed, consulted, analysed, and proposed issues that need further research and supplementation so as to create breakthroughs in promoting agroforestry livelihood models and sustainable green tourism from forest environmental service funds in Ngoc Chien.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong delivers a speech at the workshop.
Speaking at the workshop, Vice Chairman Cong emphasised that Ngoc Chien ranks second in the province in terms of forest environmental service payments and has effectively used these funds to design, develop, and build infrastructure serving economic development. The commune also possesses great potential for developing eco-tourism, wellness tourism, and community-based tourism linked with forest protection.
He expressed his hope that the project implementing units will continue to expand research scope to include biodiversity conservation and preservation of traditional cultural values and unique features of Ngoc Chien, thereby fostering agroforestry livelihood models and sustainable green tourism funded by community forest environmental service payments. This, he said, will help Ngoc Chien achieve stronger development in the future.
