Conference promote investment, trade, and tourism connections between Son La, Thanh Hoa provinces

The People's Committee of Son La province, in cooperation with the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province, organized a conference aimed at promoting investment, trade, and tourism connections between the two provinces .

The conference was attended by Nguyen Van Thi, member of the Standing Board of the Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province; Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province; and other officials, along with over 200 businesses and entrepreneurs from Son La, Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh provinces.

At the conference, leaders of both provinces provided information about the potential and strengths of agriculture and tourism. Son La now has 88,688 hectares of industrial crops; 84,780 hectares of fruit trees and son tra (hawthorn); eight high-tech agricultural zones; 308 safe agricultural and aquatic product supply chains; 188 OCOP (One Commune One Product) products; 29 agricultural and aquatic products registered with the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam for protection; and two products with protection certificates abroad. The province currently has 19 industrial-scale agricultural processing factories and nearly 600 small and medium-sized agricultural processing establishments.

With its potential in tourism, agriculture, food processing, and energy industries, Son La will focus on attracting projects in high-tech agriculture, organic farming, clean agriculture, and agricultural processing. The province will also encourage investment projects using private sources in sectors like health care, education, the environment, and commercial infrastructure.

Thanh Hoa, one of the few areas in the country with a complete mix of three ecological regions—mountains, plains, and coastal areas—has favourable conditions for developing a multi-sector economy. It also boasts a strategic geographical position; revolutionary, cultural, and historical traditions, with 1,535 national and international heritage sites and scenic spots; 102 km of coastline; and 213.6 km of border with Laos. Thanh Hoa has well-invested infrastructure, convenient transportation, and diverse service types.

In recent years, Thanh Hoa has prioritized resources to cooperate with other localities to organize many investment, trade, and tourism promotion events. These events have attracted considerable attention, participation, and support from businesses both inside and outside the province.

At the conference, representatives of the Business Associations of the two provinces, along with businesses and cooperatives, shared and introduced the advantages and potential of both provinces, as well as opportunities for cooperation, linkages, and investment promotion in trade and tourism.

During the event, Nguyen Van Thi and Nguyen Thanh Cong signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster cooperation between the two provinces. Additionally, businesses and cooperatives from both sides also inked cooperation agreements on production and sale of products.
