Conference reviews preparations, launches additional tasks for Son La Defensive Zone Exercise 2026

Major General Nguyen Dang Khai, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Military Region 2, standing deputy head of the Steering Committee for the Son La provincial Defensive Zone Exercise 2026 of Military Region 2, on May 11 chaired a conference to review preparation work and deploy additional tasks for the exercise.

Attending the conference were Hoang Van Nghiem, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, head of the provincial delegation of National Assembly deputies, and head of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the Son La provincial Defensive Zone Exercise 2026; members of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee; members of the Steering Committee and Organizing Committee for the Son La Defensive Zone Exercise 2026; leaders of provincial departments, agencies, sectors, and mass organisations; and representatives from Thuan Chau and Chieng La communes.

At the conference, Major General Khai disseminated the exercise contents and assigned additional tasks for the exercise; unified the exercise contents; and approved the draft training and exercise schedule for the Son La Defensive Zone Exercise 2026. According to the plan, the exercise will be held in mid-June 2026 with the following contents: placing the provincial armed forces in combat readiness states; putting localities into defence states; and making preparations and conducting defensive combat operations.

He assigned the Steering Committee and Organising Committee for the Son La Defensive Zone Exercise 2026 to continue coordinating effectively in drafting exercise documents; actively preparing command headquarters and ensuring adequate equipment; making thorough preparations for tactical models and improving the quality of live-force exercises; effectively conducting exercise management; and selecting, training, and assigning tasks to the directing force for the live-force component to ensure the exercise achieves its intended objectives and requirements.
