Jointly organized by Nong thon ngay nay (Today's Rural Areas) newspaper and the Son La provincial Farmers' Union, the event attracted nearly 200 representatives from departments, agencies, cooperatives, typical production and business enterprises in the field of production, processing and consumption of agricultural products, and farmers from 12 districts and Son La city.
Son La is maintaining and developing 254 safe agricultural product chains, including 33 safe vegetable, 161 safe fruit, three coffee, nine tea and 19 seafood chains. Now the province has 26 products granted trademark protection bearing the name of Son La. So far this year, the province has sold 423,780 tonnes of fruits, with an export value of agricultural and food products estimated at 158 million USD, an increase of 6.43% over the same period last year.
At the gala, delegates discussed solutions to build raw material areas for agricultural production and consumption, promote the role and effectiveness of agricultural product consumption connectivity, and register for trademark protection and geographical indications of Son La agricultural products.
They also highlighted the role of businesses in supporting farmers to develop production and sale of agricultural products.
The programme provided a venue for farmer members, cooperatives, and businesses of Son La province to raise their opinions, serving as a basis for the organising committee to propose solutions for effective and sustainable agricultural product consumption in Son La province.
