During the nation’s prolonged resistance wars against foreign invaders, the Son La industry and trade sector fought bravely while actively engaging in production, excellently fulfilling assigned tasks and ensuring the supply of food, weapons, and military equipment to the front lines.

In the renewal period, with the promotion of industrialisation, modernisation, and international integration, the sector has become a key economic sector as well as a driving force and support pillar for other economic and service sectors, making important contributions to the province’s socio-economic development.

The sector continues to advise the provincial authorities on promoting renewable energy development and agricultural product processing industries associated with raw material areas, gradually increasing the value of products such as tea, coffee, mango, longan, and son tra (hawthorn).

It has also strengthened connections and guided enterprises in the use of e-commerce; enhanced preservation, processing, and export of agricultural products; protected consumer rights; and effectively combated smuggling and trade fraud.
