Yoga is an ancient practice originating in India and has been recognised by the United Nations as a holistic approach to promoting physical and mental well-being. The International Day of Yoga is celebrated annually on June 21 to honour the values and benefits that Yoga brings to communities around the world.
This year's theme, “Yoga - For Healthy Aging,” highlights the important role of Yoga in supporting the health and well-being of older adults. It helps maintain flexibility, improve quality of life, strengthen social connections, and contribute to building a happier, healthier, and more active community.
The Moc Chau event featured a variety of meaningful activities, including the traditional Yoga flame-lighting ceremony, the practice of the Indian Common Yoga Protocol, a mass Yoga performance involving hundreds of participants, meditation sessions, and cultural exchanges among Yoga clubs.
Through these activities, the programme contributed to promoting public participation in physical exercise and sports across Son La province, strengthening cultural exchanges between Vietnam and India, and spreading the positive humanistic values of Yoga throughout the community.
