According to a report by the provincial Department of Education and Training, six of the 13 schools in Son La province have completed the structural construction phase and are now undergoing final work. Of these, four schools, located in Yen Son, Muong Hung, Long Phieng and Muong Leo communes, have reached 93-97% completion. Construction of the remaining schools is being expedited. The total approved investment for the construction of the 13 schools is nearly 3.3 trillion VND (126.2 million USD), with disbursement reaching around 64%.

Regarding preparations for the schools’ operation, the provincial People’s Committee has issued a decision approving additional targeted funding from the provincial budget for commune-level budgets to implement policies for the inter-level boarding schools in border communes across the province.

The provincial Department of Education and Training is tasked with continuing to coordinate with the Department of Home Affairs and the commune-level People’s Committees to review student enrollment, assess the need for teachers and staff, carry out personnel transfer procedures, and develop plans for boarding and semi-boarding students, as well as ensure the necessary conditions for the opening of the new school year.

Director of Son La Newspaper and Radio-Television Nguyen Truong Chinh speaks at the meeting.

As part of preparations for the new academic year, the province plans to hold the inauguration ceremonies for three primary and secondary boarding schools in Muong Hung, Yen Son and Long Phieng on August 22. The remaining schools will be inaugurated on the opening day of the new school year, September 5. To date, the provincial Department of Education and Training has developed a detailed plan for the inauguration ceremonies.

Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Dinh Viet addresses the meeting.

Concluding the meeting, Viet urged relevant departments, agencies and localities to maintain a high level of focus and complete the remaining items, ensuring quality, technical standards, aesthetics, environmental sanitation and absolute safety before the facilities are put into operation.

He also called for the inauguration ceremonies to be held in a practical, safe, economical and effective manner. Communication work must be stepped up to highlight the significance of the policy to build inter-level boarding schools in border communes, he said, asking for timely recognition and commendation of collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements during project implementation./.
