At the event, leaders of Chieng Khoong commune provided an overview of the local socio-economic development, defence-security situation, poverty reduction efforts, and the implementation of the programme to do away with temporary and dilapidated houses, as well as outlining key tasks for the coming period.

Following the reorganisation of administrative units, the number of hamlets in the border commune has been reduced from 50 to 24, home to Thai, Kinh, Mong, Sinh Mun, Kho Mu and Lao ethnic communities. Over the past seven months, the commune’s socio-economic situation has remained stable, while social security policies have been implemented in a timely manner. Administrative reform and digital transformation have made positive progress, and defence and security have continued to be firmly maintained.

Local residents raised a number of proposals, calling for greater investment in concreting inter-commune and inter-hamlet roads; upgrading spillways, drainage systems and irrigation canals; and improving water supply facilities. They also proposed support in crop and livestock varieties for poor households.

Other recommendations included upgrading transformer stations; adjusting allowances, expenditure norms and working equipment for grassroots officials following the administrative reorganisation; building new cultural houses; improving the quality of medical examination and treatment at local health stations; and increasing access to preferential loans.

Locals also called for greater efforts to resolve disputes over forest land, issue and renew land-use right certificates, and address environmental pollution caused by corn-processing facilities and household waste.

The opinions and proposals were directly addressed by leaders of relevant provincial departments and agencies at the conference. For issues beyond their jurisdiction, the Standing Board of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee will submit them to competent authorities for settlement in the coming period.

Speaking at the event, Cua stressed that the “Listening to the people” initiative launched by the Standing Board of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee is an important mechanism for the Front to better fulfill its role as a trusted bridge between the people and the Party, State and authorities at all levels. It also enables the organisation to promptly identify issues of public concern as well as bottlenecks facing production and business activities.

He urged Chieng Khoong commune to focus on implementing key socio-economic development tasks, particularly organising regular health check-ups and free screenings for local residents in line with the Politburo's Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW dated September 9, 2025.

The commune was also requested to accelerate the formulation of its master plan and the development of a land database, and make thorough preparations for the opening ceremony of the 2026-2027 academic year. He further called for continued attention to and effective implementation of social security policies for local residents./.
