Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong, who headed a delegation from the provincial Civil Defence Command, arrived at the scene shortly after the incident to oversee search and rescue efforts. More than 120 military personnel, police officers, militia members, self-defence forces and local residents were mobilised to search the area throughout the night.

According to Gia Phu commune authorities, local residents discovered a motorbike lodged against a roadside guardrail near Cheo Bau hamlet at around 7:00 p.m. on August 1. Authorities later confirmed that three children, born in 2012, 2019 and 2021, had gone missing after being swept away by floodwaters.

Rescuers recovered the body of the first child at 8:00 p.m. on August 1, followed by the second at 10:00 p.m. The search continued overnight until the body of the third child was found at 7:40 a.m. the following morning.

Following the operation, Cong and members of the provincial delegation visited the victims' families to offer their condolences. He also instructed local authorities to accelerate post-disaster recovery efforts, provide support to affected families, and strengthen preparedness measures as heavy rainfall and flooding are expected to continue./.
