Son La accelerates fund disbursement for science, technology, digital Transformation

Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Dang Ngoc Hau on August 7 chaired a working session with the Department of Science and Technology and relevant agencies to review the implementation of tasks and the disbursement of 2026 funding for science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

Implementing tasks on science, technology and innovation development, the department has advised the provincial People's Committee and the provincial Steering Committee 1310 to direct agencies, sectors and localities to focus on formulating plans to materialise Politburo Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW.
The department has also worked with agencies to translate the resolution's targets, tasks and solutions into their annual work plans while stepping up communications to raise awareness among officials, civil servants, and the public of science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation.
To date, all 15 provincial departments and agencies and all 75 communes and wards have issued digital transformation plans, while 14 of the 15 provincial departments and agencies and 72 of the 75 communes and wards have adopted 2026 plans for science and technology development and innovation.

According to the Department of Finance, the province's total state budget estimate for science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation in 2026 amounts to more than 437.2 billion VND (16.7 million USD), including 82.7 billion VND for development investment and more than 354.5 billion VND for recurrent expenditure.

As of August 5, the province had allocated about 270.8 billion VND, equivalent to 61.93% of the approved budget estimate. Total disbursement reached around 42.6 billion VND, or 15.73% of the allocated budget.

Addressing the meeting, Hau instructed departments, agencies and relevant units to thoroughly study relevant directives to ensure the timely implementation of projects, develop detailed plans for each assigned task, and reassess their capacity to implement projects and disburse allocated funds.

He also called for proposals on allocating the remaining budget in line with regulations to maximise the efficiency of investment resources, a comprehensive review of activities related to science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, and thorough preparations for implementing tasks in these areas in 2027./.
