Son La appoints new Director of Science and Technology Department
The People's Committee of Son La province has appointed Ha Thi Ngoc Yen as Director of the provincial Department of Science and Technology, effective August 1, 2026. The appointment was announced at a ceremony on August 4 following a decision signed by the Chairman of the provincial People's Committee on July 31.

Prior to her appointment, Yen served as Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of the People's Council of Bac Yen commune. She has been transferred to the Department of Science and Technology to serve a five-year term as its Director.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, called on the new director to strengthen the department's advisory role in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.
He also urged the department to accelerate the application of new technologies in production and daily life, support businesses and cooperatives in adopting advanced technologies, expand cooperation with agencies, units and businesses to mobilise resources for sci-tech development and innovation, and develop a contingent of officials and public employees with firm political mettle, excellent expertise and courage to think and act for the common good.
