Son La Defensive Zone Exercise 2026 concludes successfully

After nearly two days of conducting the Son La provincial Defensive Zone Exercise 2026 with urgency, seriousness, and high responsibility, the Military Region 2 Exercise Steering Committee, in coordination with local authorities, held the closing ceremony of the exercise on June 10.

Attending the closing ceremony were Major General Tran Van Bac, member of the Party Central Committee, Commander of Military Region 2, and head of the Military Region 2 Exercise Steering Committee; Hoang Van Nghiem, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, head of the provincial delegation of National Assembly deputies, and head of the Steering Committee for the provincial Defensive Zone Exercise; among others.

The Military Region 2 Exercise Steering Committee assessed that despite being conducted simultaneously at both provincial and commune levels, within a limited timeframe and involving a substantial workload, the Son La provincial Defensive Zone Exercise 2026 successfully fulfilled all assigned objectives with outstanding results.

Based on the outcomes of the exercise, Major General Tran Van Bac requested local authorities and units throughout Military Region 2 to continue thoroughly implementing the Party’s viewpoints and policies on safeguarding the country in the new situation; strengthen leadership and direction in building defensive zones as a regular and essential task; and organise reviews to draw lessons learned, while updating and refining defensive combat plans and operational schemes from the provincial level down to grassroots units to ensure they remain practical and responsive to new mission requirements.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nghiem pledged to seriously absorb the directions from the Commander of Military Region 2 and the Military Region 2 Exercise Steering Committee. He emphasised that these directions would be translated into concrete action programmes and plans for carrying out the province’s national defence and security tasks, further strengthening the provincial defensive zone as a solid foundation for socio-economic development in conjunction with the consolidation of defence and security.

On this occasion, the Political Commissar of Military Region 2 awarded certificates of merit to eight collectives and 10 individuals. The Chairman of the Son La provincial People’s Committee also presented certificates of merit to 10 collectives and 30 individuals for their outstanding achievements in carrying out the Son La provincial Defensive Zone Exercise 2026.
