Son La Defensive Zone Exercise 2026 opens

The Military Region 2 Exercise Steering Committee, in coordination with Son La province, on June 9 held the opening ceremony of the Son La provincial Defensive Zone Exercise 2026.

Attending and directing the exercise was Major General Tran Van Bac, member of the Party Central Committee, Commander of Military Region 2, and Head of the Military Region 2 Exercise Steering Committee. Also present were representatives of agencies under the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Border Guard Command; members of the Military Region 2 Exercise Steering Committee and its agencies; and leaders of Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, and Phu Tho provinces.

Representing Son La province were Hoang Van Nghiem, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, head of the provincial delegation of National Assembly deputies, and head of the Steering Committee for the provincial Defensive Zone Exercise 2026; members of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee and the Steering Committee and Organizing Committee for the Son La provincial Defensive Zone Exercise 2026; leaders of provincial departments, agencies, and mass organisations.

In his opening remarks, Major General Tran Van Bac emphasised that the exercise serves as an opportunity to enhance the leadership, direction, and management capabilities of Party committees and local authorities at all levels, as well as their ability to apply theoretical principles to practical situations. It also aims to improve command and organisational skills, strengthen advisory roles, coordination, and operational cooperation among the armed forces and provincial departments, agencies, and organisations.

He called on all participating forces to demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility, focus their collective intelligence, and creatively apply the Party’s military and defence policies and viewpoints. He stressed the importance of effectively applying theoretical principles in line with the functions and responsibilities of each sector and the practical conditions of the locality. 

Throughout the two-day exercise, participants were urged to maximise activeness, proactiveness, creativity, solidarity, and close coordination to achieve the highest possible results, thereby contributing to political stability, economic development, and strong national defence and security in Son La province.

Immediately following the opening ceremony, participating forces commenced the provincial Defensive Zone Exercise 2026 in accordance with the approved plan, ensuring strict compliance with regulations and absolute safety throughout the process.
