Implementing Politburo Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW dated September 9, 2025 on breakthrough measures to strengthen the protection, care, and improvement of public health, along with related documents from the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Health, the Son La provincial People's Committee has drafted a plan for periodic health check-ups and free health screening for local residents in 2026.
According to the draft plan, beneficiaries of the programme will include permanent residents and individuals who have temporarily resided in Son La province for 12 months or longer.
The programme is expected to be implemented in two phases. The first phase, beginning in July 2026, will prioritise elderly people, persons with disabilities, members of poor and near-poor households, people with meritorious services to the revolution, individuals with chronic diseases, social welfare beneficiaries, and persons whose health is managed under the supervision of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board. The second phase, starting in September 2026, will expand coverage to all remaining population groups.
Health examinations will be conducted at qualified medical facilities in accordance with regulations, as well as at mobile medical service points. The official launch of the province-wide health examination campaign is expected to take place in July 2026 at 12 central communes and wards.
Concluding the event, Permanent Vice Chairman Chien requested communes and wards to urgently compile and approve beneficiary lists according to priority groups, with completion required by June 2026. The Department of Health was assigned to develop professional guidance in line with Ministry of Health regulations and to formulate a plan for updating and managing residents’ electronic health records during the examination process, thereby contributing to improving the quality of healthcare services throughout the province.
