Son La holds live-force exercise for responding to cyberterrorist attacks

As part of the Son La provincial Defensive Zone Exercise 2026, the Steering Committee for the exercise on June 9 organised a live-force exercise for handling the A2 scenario: “Responding to cyberterrorist attacks and infiltration across the land border; apprehending terrorists and rescuing hostages; firefighting, search and rescue operations; and mine and explosive ordnance clearance.”

Attending the exercise were Major General Tran Van Bac, member of the Party Central Committee, Commander of Military Region 2, and head of the Military Region 2 Exercise Steering Committee; Hoang Van Nghiem, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, head of the provincial delegation of National Assembly deputies, and head of the Steering Committee for the provincial Defensive Zone Exercise 2026; among others.

Forces apprehend terrorist suspects.

During the exercise, participating forces demonstrated martial arts and qigong performances and conducted the live-force A2 scenario exercise. Under the simulated scenario, the forces carried out a range of operational activities, including countering terrorist and cyberattack activities; preventing infiltrators from crossing the land border; apprehending terrorists and rescuing hostages; conducting firefighting, search and rescue operations; and clearing mines and explosive devices.

They strictly adhered to the planned objectives and programme, maintained close coordination, and responded to situations in a flexible and effective manner. The live-force activities were organised in a realistic manner and ensured absolute safety for personnel and equipment.

The exercise served to evaluate the command, monitoring, and coordination of participating forces and relevant units in responding to national defence and security situations. It also helped enhance combat readiness, operational proficiency, professional skills, and specialised capabilities of officers and soldiers in handling simulated scenarios, thereby contributing to the development of a strong provincial defensive zone capable of meeting the requirements of national construction and defence in the new situation.
