Son La police commemorate 80th anniversary of People's Public Security Force’s traditional day

The Son La provincial Department of Public Security on July 7 held a ceremony to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Force’s tradition day (July 12, 1946 – 2026).

Attending the ceremony were Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; Major General Nguyen Minh Tuan, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Director of the provincial Department of Public Security; police leaders of Laos’ Houaphanh, Luang Prabang, and Bokeo provinces; among others.

Over the past 80 years, together with the People's Public Security Force nationwide, Son La police have made particularly significant contributions to the struggle for national independence and freedom, as well as to the cause of national construction and defence. Upholding its proud tradition, they have remained proactive and flexible in carrying out their duties, helping maintain political stability, safeguard national security, and support the province's socio-economic development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Viet congratulated and commended the achievements and outstanding accomplishments of the provincial public security force over the years. He also expressed his deep appreciation to generations of leaders, officers, and personnel who have served in the force. 

He urged the force to continue providing effective advice in resolving complex issues at the grassroots level, preventing the emergence of security and public order "hotspots." 

He also called for the synchronised implementation of professional operational and technical measures, the promotion of administrative reform, mastery of science and technology, pioneering role in digital transformation, and stronger efforts to prevent and combat high-tech crime while ensuring information security and confidentiality to meet the requirements of the new era.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the provincial People's Committee awarded the certificates of merit to 14 individuals. The Chairperson of the Houaphanh People's Committee presented the certificates of merit to seven collectives and five individuals. The Director of the Houaphanh provincial Department of Public Security awarded the certificates of commendation to 14 collectives and 10 individuals, while the Director of the Son La provincial Department of Public Security presented the certificates of commendation to nine collectives and 26 individuals.

The Son La provincial Department of Public Security also donated 100 million VND (3,800 USD) to support officers and personnel facing difficulties and presented awards to winners of a writing contest on the 80-year tradition of the People's Public Security Force./.
