The delegation was received by Bounkhong Lachiemphone, member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Oudomxay province.

In an atmosphere imbued with the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos, leaders of the two provinces exchanged information on their respective localities' socio-economic development, national defence and security, as well as Party building and political system building.

In recent years, cooperation between Son La and Oudomxay has continued to grow across a wide range of sectors. The two provinces have maintained regular high-level exchanges and effectively implemented cooperation programmes in education, human resource development, healthcare, culture, sports, agriculture, and trade promotion. Many students from Oudomxay have studied at educational institutions in Son La, contributing to stronger friendship and solidarity between the two localities.

On this occasion, leaders of the two provinces signed a cooperation agreement for the 2026–2029 period, covering key areas including political and external relations, national defence and security, economic cooperation, culture and social affairs, education and training, human resource development, as well as cultural exchanges and people-to-people diplomacy. 

The agreement provides an important foundation for both provinces to further strengthen and expand their comprehensive cooperation, contributing to socio-economic development, improving the well-being of their people, and reinforcing the traditional friendship and special solidarity between the Parties, States and people of Vietnam and Laos.

The visit, talks, and signing of the cooperation agreement reaffirm the strong commitment of Son La and Oudomxay to preserving, nurturing, and promoting the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, ensuring that this unique relationship endures for generations to come.
