Thematic meeting marks 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day

The Party Organisation of the National Assembly's Committee for Deputy Affairs held a thematic meeting at Chieng Son Border Guard Station on July 11 to commemorate the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 – 2026). The event carried the theme "Promoting the tradition of ‘when drinking water, remember its source’ and enhancing the responsibility of officials and Party members of the National Assembly's Committee for Deputy Affairs in carrying out assigned political tasks."

The meeting was attended by Nguyen Huu Dong, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Deputy Affairs, and deputy head of the Party Central Committee's Organisation Commission; Deputy Chairpersons of the National Assembly's Committee for Deputy Affairs; among others.

Representing Son La province were Lo Minh Hung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Council; Vi Duc Tho, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Council; leaders of several provincial departments and agencies; leaders of Chieng Son commune; officers of Chieng Son Border Guard Station; and policy beneficiary families and people with meritorious services to the revolution in Chieng Son commune.

At the event, delegates reviewed the nation's heroic revolutionary traditions and expressed gratitude for the great contributions and sacrifices of heroic martyrs, war invalids, sick soldiers, and people who rendered services to the revolution. The activity contributed to fostering revolutionary ideals, patriotism, and a spirit of dedication among officials and Party members.

Through practical activities at Chieng Son Border Guard Station and the border area, delegates learned about the lives and working conditions of officers, soldiers, and local residents, while gaining a better understanding of difficulties in managing and protecting national sovereignty and border security.

The activities helped officials and Party members gain deeper awareness of the significance of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day, while strengthening their responsibility in preserving revolutionary traditions, Party building, mass mobilisation, border protection, caring for people with meritorious services, and enhancing coordination between central agencies, local authorities, and armed forces. Practical insights gained from the reality contributed to improving the sense of responsibility, the quality of Party cell activities, and solidarity and unity within the Party.

Concluding the meeting, Dong requested that every official and Party member continue promoting the tradition of "when drinking water, remember its source" in carrying out Party tasks; proactively study issues, stay closely connected with reality, listen to opinions from localities and grassroots levels; promote proactiveness, innovation, responsibility, and the spirit of daring to think and act for the common interest while strictly observing principles, discipline, and regulations.

He also emphasised the need to strengthen solidarity, coordination, and continuous improvement of working methods, turning gratitude into motivation for concrete actions and results, thereby contributing to the successful fulfillment of political tasks assigned to the Party Organisation of the National Assembly’s Committee for Deputy Affairs.

On this occasion, the delegation presented gifts to policy beneficiary families and people with meritorious services to the revolution in Chieng Son commune, as well as the Chieng Son commune Party Committee and Chieng Son Border Guard Station.
