Vietnam Buddhist Sangha leaders pay courtesy visit to Son La’s Party chief

Most Venerable Thich Thanh Quyet, member of the 16th National Assembly, Vice Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), and head of the Executive Board of the VBS chapter in Son La province (VBS Son La), together with several VBS dignitaries, paid a courtesy visit to Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Hoang Van Nghiem on May 19.

During the meeting, Most Venerable Thich Thanh Quyet provided an overview of the recent activities of the VBS Son La Executive Board, as well as preparations for Vesak 2026 and the upcoming Congress of VBS Son La for the new term.

He expressed gratitude for the attention and support provided by Son La province to the activities of the Sangha. These efforts have contributed to meeting the legitimate spiritual needs of the people, strengthening the great national unity bloc, and promoting the positive values of Buddhism in social life.

The provincial Party Committee presents gifts to the VBS Executive Council and the Executive Board of VBS Son La. 

The Secretary of the provincial Party Committee thanked and acknowledged the contributions of the VBS to Son La province over the past period. He affirmed that the provincial Party Committee and authorities always accompany and create conditions for the people to practice their beliefs and religions, including Buddhism, in line with legal regulations. 

He also proposed that the VBS Son La Executive Board continue to uphold its tradition of solidarity and companionship with the nation; encourage monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers to effectively implement the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws; and actively participate in patriotic emulation movements, contributing to strengthening national unity and promoting the continued development of Son La province.
