Attending the ceremony were Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; Cha A Cua, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; former provincial leaders; representatives of provincial departments and agencies; leaders of Northern Wind Energy JSC; and a large number of officials and residents from Muong Coi and Phu Yen communes.
The Risen Phu Yen Wind Power Plant project has a planned capacity of 80 MW, with a total investment of 2.94 trillion VND (111.67 million USD) and an operational lifespan of 50 years. It will occupy approximately 46.4 hectares of land across Muong Coi and Phu Yen communes. The wind turbines will utilise advanced technology from Shanghai Electric, ensuring efficient wind resource utilisation and stable operation under the challenging terrain conditions of mountainous areas. The project is expected to be completed and commence commercial operation in the third quarter of 2028.
Once operational, the project is projected to generate more than 250 million kWh of electricity annually for the national power grid, while making a significant contribution to Vietnam’s green energy transition goals and its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
Speaking at the event, Chairman Viet urged the investor to continue completing wind measurement activities, technical design work, and the feasibility study report; ensure adequate equity capital in accordance with commitments; closely coordinate with local authorities on compensation and site clearance activities; and invest in social welfare projects that benefit communities in the project area.
He also requested provincial departments, agencies, and local authorities to continue supporting and guiding the investor in completing all legal procedures, closely monitor project implementation, and promptly report any difficulties or challenges to the provincial People's Committee.
On this occasion, Risen Phu Yen Wind Energy JSC donated 200 million VND to Muong Coi and Phu Yen communes to support the replacement of four substandard houses. Previously, during the survey and project preparation phase, the company had provided 1.6 billion VND to support housing improvement programmes in Muong Coi, Phu Yen, and neighbouring communes.
