Dao ethnic culture preserved

Phieng Bay hamlet, Chieng Khay commune, Quynh Nhai district, is home to 212 households with over 1,000 residents. About 85% of them are the Red Dao ethnic people, who have lived there for generations.

Artisans from Phieng Bay hamlet, Chieng Khay commune perform for tourists at a cultural event in Quynh Nhai district.

They are actively preserving many beautiful traditional cultural aspects of their ethnic group. They regularly organise and maintain various rituals and ceremonies, such as the "Cap Sac" (coming-of-age) ceremony, the bride procession ritual during wedding, and the "green leaf offering" ceremony to pray for health at the end of the year.

The hamlet also boasts an art troupe of nearly 20 members. They regularly practice and perform at cultural events organised by the district and commune, including a recent performance for tourists at a cultural event in Quynh Nhai district.
