Chieng Hoa commune currently has 35 hamlets with more than 3,285 households, including 21 highland hamlets and 14 hamlets along the Da River. The population is mainly composed of the Mong, Thai, and La Ha ethnic groups. Through many generations, the ethnic communities in the commune have preserved and promoted their distinctive traditional cultural values, reflected in rituals, traditional costumes, and culinary culture in daily life.

The festival featured a wide range of activities, including ethnic costume performances, cultural and art performances, ethnic cuisine competitions, and sports competitions with traditional folk games such as to ma le, pao throwing, tug of war, stick pushing, making round sticky rice cakes, and crossbow shooting.

Within the framework of the festival, a highland market was also held, offering many local agricultural products such as wild apples, bamboo shoots with chili, taro, upland rice, fermented pork, along with household utensils, toys, and fashion items, meeting the shopping needs of local residents and visitors.

Held for the first time, the Chieng Hoa commune Ethnic Culture Festival aims to preserve and promote the values and beauty of traditional cultures of the ethnic groups; create a joyful and vibrant atmosphere to encourage people to welcome the New Year and celebrate the traditional Lunar New Year; and promote emulation in labour and production, contributing to the successful implementation of socio-economic development goals and tasks from the very beginning of 2026.
