Son La promotes traditional cultural values

Since 2021, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has collaborated with district-level authorities to organise 17 training courses on intangible cultural heritage.

The department has also carried out research and preservation efforts for two intangible cultural heritages and two traditional cultural models of the Mong and Thai ethnic groups. In addition, 10 folk culture clubs have been established, and financial support has been provided to 70 traditional art troupes.

The folk culture club of the Kho Mu ethnic group in Nong Lay commune, Thuan Chau district, is practicing.

Alongside these efforts, five historical sites across districts and Son La city have been restored. One exemplary traditional village of ethnic minorities has been preserved.

Furthermore, the department has partnered with media agencies to produce documentaries and organise seminars on preserving traditional culture in connection with tourism development.
