The “Sac Xuan Vung Cao” (Colours of Highland Spring) market was held at the foot of the ancient Muong Va tower over two days from January 24–25, aiming to create a shared cultural space, preserve and promote ethnic groups’ cultural identities, and showcase local images and tourism potential, linking cultural heritage with sustainable tourism development at the Muong Va tower site in Sop Cop commune.
The market fair featured 20 booths run by cooperatives from Sop Cop and neighbouring communes including Muong Leo, Pung Banh and Muong Lan, showcasing farm produce, traditional handicrafts, highland cuisine and other local products. The People’s Committee of Sop Cop commune plans to hold the market fair once a month to promote trade and attract visitors. The event also included cultural and traditional sporting activities such as booth tours, tug-of-war, stick pushing, blindfolded duck catching and crossbow shooting.
