“Accompanying Border Women” programme held in Chieng Son commune

The provincial Women’s Union, in coordination with the authorities of Chieng Son commune and sponsoring organisations, on January 30 held the “Accompanying Border Women” programme on the occasion of the Lunar New Year.

Attending the programme were Hoang Thi Doi, member of the National Assembly’s Ethnic Council and deputy head of the province’s delegation of full-time National Assembly deputies; and representatives of several provincial departments, agencies, the provincial Border Guard Command, Chieng Son commune, businesses, and sponsors.

At the programme, participating organisations presented national flags and portraits of President Ho Chi Minh to 24 hamlets in Chieng Son, 31 gift packages to families with meritorious service, 216 Tet gifts to poor women members and disadvantaged households, and milk to Chieng Son Kindergarten. The programme had a total value of more than 500 million VND (about 19,275 USD).

On the occasion, the Women’s Union of To Hieu ward presented 35 gift packages, the Women’s Union of Chieng Sinh ward delivered 15, and the provincial police’s women board donated 20 gift packages along with a carton of ao dai (traditional long dress) to women members and families facing hardship.

The programme also featured a range of lively activities, including banh chung making and tug-of-war contests, a “zero-dong” fair stall, and a free haircut service for students and local residents.

The activities created a warm, upbeat atmosphere ahead of the Lunar New Year, while encouraging women in border areas to strive forward and play a stronger role within their families and communities, helping reinforce civil–military solidarity and safeguard stability along the border.
