The provincial Red Cross Society and the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion present flowers and souvenirs to blood donors.
The “Red Journey” is a nationwide voluntary blood donation campaign led by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion in coordination with provinces and cities across the country. Over 12 years of implementation (2013–2025), the campaign has become a powerful symbol of compassion, humanity, and a deep sense of community responsibility.
This year marks the 10th consecutive time Son La province has taken part in the campaign. Over the past nine years, a total of 45,392 units of blood have been donated, helping save the lives of numerous patients.
The “Red Journey” has played a vital role in transforming public awareness of voluntary blood donation, increasing understanding of thalassemia (inherited blood disorder), promoting safe blood donation practices, and training thousands of blood donation campaign volunteers across districts and cities.

On the very first day, nearly 1,100 youth union members, young people, public employees, soldiers, and local residents in the city registered to donate blood voluntarily. The organising board collected 966 units of blood to be delivered to medical facilities, helping ensure an adequate supply for emergency care and treatment.
On this occasion, the organising board also presented 20 gift packages to policy beneficiary families in the city. The “Giot Hong Son La” blood donation festival will continue in Thuan Chau district on June 23.
