Chieng Mung commune launched the Tree-Planting Festival 2026, themed “Forever Grateful to Uncle Ho,” in response to Vietnam Tree Day.

Implementing Uncle Ho’s teaching: “For the benefit of ten years, we must plant trees; for the benefit of a hundred years, we must cultivate people,” Chieng Mung commune has maintained annual tree-planting and afforestation activities. Currently, the commune’s forest coverage rate exceeds 33%.

The tree-planting and afforestation movement has become a traditional cultural beauty, bringing socio-economic benefits, strengthening protective capacity, responding to climate change, mitigating natural disasters, improving environmental quality, and contributing to better material and spiritual living standards for the people.

At the launching ceremony, leaders of Chieng Mung commune requested Party committees, authorities, and mass organisations at all levels to intensify communication efforts so that every citizen, union member, and association member clearly understands that planting trees means protecting their own living environment.

Agencies, units, schools, enterprises, and residents in the locality were encouraged to proactively green their premises, consider tree planting and care as criteria for building cultured and friendly offices, strictly follow the principle “Plant trees well and ensure they survive,” and properly care for and protect trees and forest resources. Delegates planted 50 bauhinia trees along the corridor of National Highway 6 near the communal People’s Committee headquarters. At the same time, villages and hamlets were assigned to plant 500 bauhinia trees along main roads in their areas.
