Conference disseminates policies for AO victims

The Son La provincial Social Protection Association on August 22 organised a conference to disseminate and raise awareness of the Party's policies and the State's laws related to victims of Agent Orange/dioxin.

Attending the conference were representatives from the provincial Party Committee's Information and Education, and Mass Mobilisation Board, the provincial Farmers' Association, the provincial Red Cross Society, and 50 individuals representing more than 1,000 AO/dioxin victims.

At the event, delegates were briefed on Ordinance No. 02/2020/UBTVQH14 of the National Assembly Standing Committee on preferential treatment for people with meritorious services to the revolution; Decree No. 131/2021/NĐ-CP dated December 30, 2021, detailing and guiding the implementation of the Ordinance; and Decree No. 55/2023/NĐ-CP amending and supplementing several articles of Decree No. 75/2021/NĐ-CP, dated July 24, 2021, on benefits and allowances for people who rendered service to the revolution.

The conference provided detailed information on eligibility criteria, recognition standards, instructions for preparing applications and procedures for those entitled to policies for people who participated in the resistance wars and were exposed to toxic chemicals. It also covered the preferential treatment available to their relatives, including monthly allowances and additional benefits.

On this occasion, the provincial Social Protection Association presented 50 gift packages, sponsored by the provincial Red Cross Society and the provincial Business Association, to people with meritorious services and AO/dioxin victims. The total value of the gifts was 20 million VND (759 USD).

Leaders of the provincial Party Committee’s Information and Education, and Mass Mobilisation Board and the provincial Social Protection Association present gifts to Agent Orange/dioxin victims.
